Imperfections Used By God

Author: BrotherJim

When I woke up this morning I had a sort of dreaded feeling of a spirit upon me and thinking in a way nothing I did or I was trying to do did not matter to no one. Most in part to the past hurts in the ministry. Some called me hard and brutal or rough at times, well those who did say these things have forgotten one important thing.

God uses all of our imperfections in his way to bring him Glory and all things works for the Good in God even in our faults he uses that and it does matters to him. This story reminded me of this.

One day, an old man was walking along a beach that was littered with thousands of starfish that had been washed ashore by the high tide. As he walked he came upon a young boy who was eagerly throwing the starfish back into the ocean, one by one.

Puzzled, the man looked at the boy and asked what he was doing. Without looking up from his task, the boy simply replied, “I’m saving these starfish, Sir”.

The old man chuckled aloud, “Son, there are thousands of starfish and only one of you. What difference can you make?”

The boy picked up a starfish, gently tossed it into the water and turning to the man, said, “I made a difference to that one!”

With that my heart was low and my thoughts were on those of the past that were looking at my imperfections did not even think that it matters to God and not what we see in a person.

But we all forgot one important lesson in that, We all need to learn to look past those faults, those imperfections and even the mistakes and take what we are to make a difference rather than trying to point them out. Jesus did this a lot and even with their flaws he loved them. We somehow we have forgotten this.

A dear lady friend who attend our friday night sermons remind me this morning that God can use me or us to make a difference even with my imperfections.

Why, because it made a difference to her and it made a difference to the other 3 who keeps showing up to fellowship and listen to the sermons and she said for those who did not want to overlook my faults and just let God be the one to use these traits in me has missed the whole point of the real power of God.

Folks We are not God, we cannot make people change or we cannot point out all the faults in them. What we need to do is let God handle that and let him love us for what we are, his creation and love us for the way he created us even with our faults and allow that to be used to bring him the glory and not worry about what you or I think or what others may think of us.

All of us even with our faults and bad habits does make a difference to God and not to men. So when we are dealing with people remember that first, instead of pointing out faults.

Love them for what they are and let them be used by God to make a difference, and remember we are not like you, so don’t expect us to be like you, let us be how we were created, let God be the one to change us not you and let God use us his way to make a difference in someone’s life today.

Amen
